C: Well ,first , you write and get an application form.Then ,you send it in with a copy of your school records    

   and an affidavit of support 

   好的，首先你的写信索取一份申请表。然后把填好的表连同你的学习成绩单的复印件及一份经济担

      保书一起寄去。

M: And do I need to take any tests? 我需要参加什么考试吗？

C: Yes , you have to take TOEFL? 要的。你必须参加托福考试。

M:And what about the visa ? When can I apply for it ?要的。你必须参加托福考试。

C: Well . You can ‘t apply for the visa until you get a letter of acceptance and an 1-20 form from a university.

  恩，要等到你收到录取通知书和1-20表哥以后才能申请签证。

M: I see . And one more thing , Are foreign students allowed to work in the State? 

  我知道了。还有一个问题，外国学生允许在美国打工吗？

C: They’ll only let you work in summer .you ‘ll meed to get permission from the U.S .Office of Immigration 

   to do that .During the school year , you ‘re not allowed to work unless the work experience is part of your 

   school program . 

只许在夏天打工，还得有美国移民办公室的许可才行。在上课期间不许打工，除非学校的教学计划规定需要这方面的工作经验。选择好了学校，该如何进行申请呢？ 都需要具备哪些资格？ 要提交写资料？还要办理哪些手续？ 问题还真是不少。

J： Good morning ,Mama . I want to further my studies at your university . Could you tell me which majors    

   are available for international students ?

C: What is your nationality? 你是哪个国籍的？

J:Chinese中国

C:We have many majors available to Chinese students ,such as Literature ,Mathematics ,Physics ,Architecture.Computers ,Science and Medical Science ,Which major is particularly in your mind?

  对于中国学生我们有很多专业可供选择，比如说文学、数学、物理学、建筑学、计算机学、医学等。你（特别）想学哪个专业的呢？  

J:Literature. What’re the subject for this major ? 文学。 这个专业的课程有哪些？

C: Let’s see , Literature Theory ,Literature History ,Comparative Literature ,and so on .

  咱们来看一下，有文学理论、文学史、比较文学等等。

J: May I know something about the first year’s curriculum for this major ?

  我可以了解一下这个专业第一学年的课程安排吗？

J: Sure How long does it take to finish this diploma program?

C: That depends .It usually takes 2to 3 years 拿的看情况而定。一般要用2到3年。

Applying for a Scholarship  申请奖学金

A: Good morning , sir . Have you received my scholarship application form ?

早上好，先生。您收到我的奖学金申请表了吗？

P: Yes , It reached us this morning .受到了，今天早晨刚收到的？

A: Marvelous! How does it look ? Do you think that I will receive a scholarship?

  太好了！ 看起来怎么样？你认为我能申请到奖学金吗？

P: Looking at your application . I’d say you have a better than excellent chance at getting one of our academic scholarships. But I do want to tell you that our Scholarships only cover tuition and living expenses. Travel and entertainment are both things you’ll have to cover on your own .

 从你的申请来看，我可以说你很有可能申请到我们学院的奖学金。但我要告诉你的是，我们的奖学金支付单学费和生活费。旅行和消遣的费用得你自己承担。

A: That shouldn’t be a problem for me . I think I can manage travel expenses and any other things that pops up by me self. 

那对我来说应该不是问题了， 我想我自己可以负担旅行费用和其它突发事件费用。

P: I f you need to , you can always get s student loan from the bank .Lots of students go this route .

   如果需要的话，你还可以到银行去贷款。很多学生都是这么做的。

A:I f things get desperate, I’ll certainly call the bank ,but not until I need to , Thank you for the suggestion though

  如果事情变得很坏的话，我肯定会从银行贷款的，但目前还不需要，但还是要谢谢您的建议。
